PROJECT DESCRIPTION
New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) statewide initiative to replace all existing HID street lighting systems with LED replacements, including integrated Smart Technologies.
Turnkey Design and Construction Manager for approximately 200 projects of varying size and complexity, ranging from small municipalities (<100 fixtures) to large cities (>20,000 fixtures). Scope required a comprehensive design by current street lighting standards and dark sky compliance requirements. Additional scope requirements involved electrical utility upgrade requirements. As part of an incentive matching program, NYPA also afforded municipalities an opportunity to add smart technologies to their respective projects. Typical smart technology offerings included public WiFi, flood sensors, vacant house occupancy sensors, trash level monitoring sensors, noise monitoring sensors, and other “life-enhancing” technologies.
